Lisburn men are shedding the pounds

THREE local men have been shedding the pounds and discovering a new lease of life after joining Weightwatchers in Lisburn.

Billy MacDonald, Clifford Logan and Stanley Kerr joined the female-dominated slimming club and between them they have now lost over ten stone.

Billy decided to join the local club, which is held in Brownlee Primary School and run by Bernie Walsh, after a friend encouraged him to join him on his weightloss journey.

“I noticed a friend of mine was losing weight and I asked him how he was doing it. He told me he had joined Weightwatchers so I decided to go along with him,” explained Billy, who has lost 2st 9lbs.

“Combined with a bit of exercise, I have found it pretty easy. Weightwatchers does work and the craic is great at the group. Everyone motivates each other.”

Clifford has also found that the Weightwatchers plan has worked for him. He joined the group five months ago and has already lost 4st 4.5lbs.

“I was getting far too heavy and I just couldn’t get clothes to fit me,” he explained. “I have found it pretty easy, I am eating well and you are allowed a wee treat as well.

“I try to go out walking two or three nights a week and I love the group. It is great craic and Bernie is fantastic.”

Stanley is also enjoying his weightloss journey. “I joined about five months ago and have lost 3st 8.5lbs,” he explained.

“I wanted to be more active and feel healthier. I actually found Weightwatchers quite easy to do. I am eating all this food and I am still losing weight. I have never eaten so much in my life.

“I walk a couple of miles a night, which I never did before. I am asthmatic and losing weight has helped that an awful lot.
