Lisburn pub quiz raises vital funds for TinyLife charity

A recent Lisburn pub quiz fundraiser has raised a staggering £1500 for charity in just one night, thanks to the generosity of local businesses and people.

Every penny of the cash raised will go straight to charity TinyLife, as the management at Hagues Bar kindly waived room hire charges to show their support for such a good cause.

Friends Andrew Ringland and Simon Hamilton recently took part in TinyLife Does Strictly. They were part of a group of 22 volunteers who took to the stage at La Mon Hotel to perform for an audience.

Andrew and Simon were rivals on the dancefloor, but have been friends for years, so with the help of Andrew’s fiancée Pauline, decided to team up and arrange a great night’s entertainment to maximise their fundraising.

Andrew said they were overwhelmed at the response to the event. “We put a lot of hard work into arranging a fun event – but we couldn’t believe it when around 100 people came through the doors. The pub quiz entry tickets combined with the raffle ticket sales brought in £1500 – an amazing amount to bring in during a single event.”

As well as the dozens of friends, family and members of the public who came along to the quiz, 18 local businesses got involved, with generous donations, raffle prizes and company support.

Simon said: “We’d first of all love to thank Belvoir Lisburn, for kindly offering a £200 donation in support of TinyLife Does Strictly, as well as Decora Blinds, who made TinyLife their charity of the month. We also had sixteen local businesses come forward to gift items and services for our raffle, meaning we had thousands of pounds worth of prizes to give away.”
