Lisburn ready to party to celebrate the Royal wedding

LISBURN will be celebrating the Royal wedding in style on Friday thanks to grants provided by the City Council.

They have handed out 16 grants of £400 to community groups throughout the area under its Community Celebration Grant scheme.

With the weather forecast set fair and interest in the Royal couple at an all time high locally following their visit to Hillsborough last month, Friday is shaping up to be a day to remember.

The Mayor, Alderman Paul Porter, said: “Throughout the Lisburn area there are a number of street celebrations planned.

“These events are staggered throughout the day with the earliest starting at 9.30am and the latest at 8pm.

“As the Mayor of Lisburn I look forward to attending those community events which I have been invited to and celebrating with the residents of Lisburn. The events that have received support from the Council are all-inclusive, open and accessible to everyone within the local community.”

The events include street parties in community buildings, village centres, sports facilities and exhibitions and dancing.
