Lisburn Rotary Club raises total of £11,000

Last year Cancer Fund for Children and The Rotary Club of Lisburn joined forces in a three year partnership aiming to raise £25,000 to support local families living with cancer.

In its first year, The Rotary Club of Lisburn has raised £11,000 and provided additional support by members volunteering their time to Cancer Fund for Children.

Members of the Rotary Club not only climbed Slieve Donard, abseiled down the Europa Hotel in Belfast, took part in bucket collections at Tesco stores but also acted as elves and even Santa himself at the charity’s Christmas Grotto and held their 6th Golf Invitational, a fantastic golf day which helped raise substantial funds and awareness for Cancer Fund for Children.

Sam Patterson, President of the Rotary Club of Lisburn said, “The members of the Rotary Club of Lisburn have a long-standing history of serving our local community and of supporting Cancer Fund for Children.

“We are incredibly pleased to know that by committing our support over three years, we are helping Cancer Fund for Children provide essential support services for local families living with cancer”.

Ana Wilkinson Cancer Fund for Children Clubs and Community Fundraiser explained, “Every week in Northern Ireland, three children, teenagers or young adults (0-24 years old) are diagnosed with cancer.

Cancer Fund for Children is the leading local charity providing therapeutic, emotional and financial support to families living with cancer; but we could not provide these services without the support of clubs like The Rotary Club of Lisburn. It has been superb working in partnership with President Sam Patterson and the Rotarians this year”.
