Lisburn schools win Health Awards

THREE schools in the area have struck gold in the tenth annual Health Action Awards organised by Action Cancer and independent retail group Centra.

In the South Eastern Education and Library Board region, Barbour Nursery School, Ballinderry Primary School and Beechlawn School, Hillsborough won Gold Awards, Wallace High School Prep won a Silver and Seymour Pre-School, Dunmurry and Killowen Primary School won Bronze.

The winners impressed the Action Cancer judges with their innovative projects promoting healthy eating, sun safety awareness and the dangers of alcohol and smoking.

Province-wide there are 19 Gold award, 10 Silver award and eight Bronze award winners. All 37 winners receive a Health Action trophy or certificate, and a prize of £200, to be spent on school equipment, is awarded to the highest scoring nursery/primary school and secondary school/college in each of the five Education and Library boards.
