During this period, this local solicitor and 31 other solicitor firms will not charge a fee for their will making service but will instead invite clients to make a donation to Northern Ireland Hospice.

Despite this being a time of increasingly complicated financial affairs, more than two-thirds of people in Northern Ireland don’t have a will. More recently solicitors are experiencing situations where a loved one has passed away without making a will.

The consequences of not making a will can cause major upset, family rifts and worse, leave siblings, partners or carers without a home.

“Make a Will Month” is the ideal opportunity to plan ahead for your loved ones whilst supporting Hospice.

Ann Roulston, Partner at Conn & Fenton Solicitors said, “Writing a will is the most important thing you can do to protect your family and loved ones.

“If the unthinkable happens and you pass away without having a will, your loved ones may have no choice over who gets what, regardless of what you have told them during your lifetime.

“Your estate would be distributed according to the current NI law. However, by availing of the free solicitor’s service during ‘Make a Will Month’ you can protect your loved ones whilst ensuring the availability of future hospice care here.” Sharon Gorman, Legacy Officer added, “There is no obligation to leave a gift in your will to Hospice during this campaign but if you wish to do so, it will make an immense difference.

“We understand that your priority is looking after your loved ones first and foremost but even a small gift would make a great difference. Gifts in wills are crucial to the growth of our service and in fact last year these gifts funded the care of 1 in 5 of hospice patients.
