Lisburn Summer Schemes are blazing into action

Summer holidays are on the horizon and you parents will soon start wondering how you can keep the kids amused. Lisburn City Council Leisure Services Summer Activities are offering up a rescue plan.

This year’s schemes have evolved to ensure each child has a thoroughly enjoyable experience, making lots of new friends in a fun and safe environment.

SUMMER SCHEME

The Summer Scheme at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex for children aged 5-13 runs on a weekly basis from 9am to 4pm from 30 June to 29 August, excluding the week commencing 30 June and 25 August when daily sessions are available between 30 June – 4th July and 25 – 29 August at £15 per day.

The Lagan Valley LeisurePlex will also be running a Summer Scheme for 12 – 15 year olds on a weekly basis from 14 July to 15 August from 9am – 4pm.

In tandem with the LeisurePlex multi-activity scheme, a Summer Swim Camp will be held over five consecutive weekdays from 14 July – 29 August for ages 3+.

Application forms for the above will be available from www.lisburncity.gov.uk/lagan-valley-leisureplex from 7 June onwards and accepted by post from Monday 9 June.

Online applications are available from 9 June at www.leisureplexonline.com/onlinebooking. Applications from personal callers will be processed from Monday 16 June at 9am (subject to availability). Payment will be by cheque, cash or credit card.

RURAL SUMMER SCHEME

This year, the Rural Scheme will once again operate for children 7-13 years in the following venues from 10am – 4pm:

Anahilt Primary School 1–4 July (four days only)

Ballymacward Primary School 7–11 July

Ballymacrickett Primary School (Glenavy) 21– 25 July,

Aghalee Village Hall Primary School 28 July – 1 August

Moira Primary School 4 – 8 August

Ballycarrickmaddy Primary School 11 – 15 August.

The Schemes at Glenmore, Kilmakee and Grove Activity Centres run from 10am – 3 pm for children aged 5–12, where fully-qualified, professional staff will ensure a varied programme, including, games, out-of-centre trips and arts. Enrolment commences on Monday 9 June at 9am.

Glenmore - 7 – 11 July/ 21 – 25 July and 28 July – 1 August

Grove - 4 – 22 August

Kilmakee - 28 July – 15 August.

CHILDREN’S ARTS FESTIVAL

This will run 28 Jul- 30 Aug for children of all ages and their grown-ups

Get playful and creative in ISLAND Arts Centre Children’s exhibition, The Urban Playground designed for 0-16 year olds (and their grown-ups) by award winning arts organisation, ArtsEkta.

Invent your own magnificent metropolis and enjoy mural painting, stencilling, printmaking, chalk drawing, poster pasting, sticker-art and 3D street art caricatures.

Become a fantastic City Superhero as you delve into the X-ray vision dress box of delights. . Swing into action in the park play or the interactive graffiti wall and sculpture trial.

Or simply curl up and chillax in the storytelling zone.

IT’S FREE! Children just need to be accompanied by a grown-up at all times.

Festival Highlights: Three weeks of Urban Arts activities from Mon 28 Jul- Fri 8 Aug, Family Workshops, Rave Baby Rave, One Stop Animation by The Left Hand Cinema and Radio Production by Cool FM’s Mairead Campbell/Cinemagic.

SPORTS COACHING

IFA Summer Soccer schools for children 5–14 year old will run from 10am – 1pm in:
