The awards partnership between Translink and TIDY Northern Ireland recognises the efforts of employees to build a cleaner, tidier and more environmentally-friendly bus and rail network.

Translink Environmental Officer Andy Bate said: “This year all stations improved on their presentation levels in terms of general cleanliness, litter awareness, graffiti awareness and exterior management.

“Waste management has also improved overall and community involvement showed the greatest improvement – reflecting our effective partnerships with many local community groups. We are also delighted to see more stations awarded the top Platinum standard.

“It is important we reward the efforts of employees who look after bus and rail facilities and we hope this work improves passengers’ overall journey experience.”

Chris Allen, Local Environmental Quality Officer at TIDY Northern Ireland, said: “We were impressed with the effort Translink employees put into the awards this year and the fact that five stations achieved a platinum grading really underlines that hard work. Many of these stations have become attractive and important hubs for the local community to enjoy and employees’ efforts have greatly contributed to this.”
