Lisburn’s 2013 visitor guide is launched

LISBURN City Council’s Tourist Information Centre recently launched the 2013 Lisburn Visitor Guide at the leading global event for the travel industry, the World Trade Market, which took place in November in London.

Representatives from the Council’s Tourist Information Centre and Elected Members travelled to the exhibition to promote Lisburn as one of Northern Ireland’s tourist hotspots, exhibiting with the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau. Enterprise Minister, Arlene Foster also attended the event to promote Northern Ireland to the many visitors and lent her support to promoting the Lisburn visitor guide.

Speaking at the launch, Alderman Jim Dillon, Chairman of the Council’s Economic Development Committee, said: “The World Travel Market was an ideal venue for the Council to launch the 2013 visitor guide, promoting the attractions of the Lisburn area. The guide is user-friendly and promotes the variety and vitality of visitor experiences available in the Lisburn area. Alderman Alan Ewart, Vice-Chairman of the Economic Development Committee said: “Lisburn City Council continues to invest in the promotion of tourism which contributes significantly to the local economy on an annual basis. The City hosts a number of high-profile regional and national events including Garden Show Ireland, the National Countrysports Fair, the Lisburn Half Marathon, Pipe Band Championships and the famous Ulster Grand Prix motorcycle races together with events at the Down Royal Racecourse and Drumbo Park Stadium. Events such as these showcase the area and generate visitor spend with accommodation providers, eateries and the wider economy.
