Lisburn’s Special Olympic Club needs your help

MEMBERS of Lisburn 2gether Special Olympics Club recently met Olympic torch bearer Thomas Rodgers, who was at the Adult Resource Centre in Wallace Avenue to promote the club’s nomination for a Lloyds Community Grant.

Thomas, who carried the torch in Belfast, nominated Lisburn 2gether for the community award because the Special Olympics Club: “inspires, supports and unlocks the potential of young people in the community”.

The club, which is run by volunteers, is currently competing against three other projects for a £5,000 grant.

Margaret McClelland Fundraiser of the club commented: “We are delighted to have been nominated for this award. We have been working steadily over the years to allow those with a learning disability to compete in their chosen sports at a local, national and international level, and this grant would mean we could help more local athletes reach their potential.”
