Little Amps ‘big weekend’

LITTLE Amps Early Years, Upperlands held a successful Sponsored Tractor Pull on Saturday to raise essential funds. The event involved six teams pulling a tractor, as part of a relay through Upperlands, Maghera and Culnady.

Little Amps ‘Big Weekend’ started with the children of the community pre-school take part in their own Sponsored Toy Tractor Pull on Friday 30th March.

Sponsorship and other donations for the two events came to a total of over £3,730, with £421 of the total coming from a street collection.

Examples of the money raised will be used include: necessary building repairs including windows and roof replacement for the side unit, staffing costs and other equipment upgrades.

Little Amps would like to thank everyone who supported the event through donations, giving their time or getting together teams.

Little Amps also thank William Dickson for the use of his ‘Wee Fergie’ and Carnroe Supplies, Ampertaine P.S., Russell Shiels Tyres, Hyndman’s Bakery, Garvagh High School, Sperrin and Bann Valley Market, Tobermore Concrete, R.T. Boyd, McClean Contracts, Walsh’s Hotel, and The Body Gym, Upperlands, for their valuable support.

The prize for the highest team sponsorship, kindly donated by Ardtara Country House, Upperlands, went to the Young at Heart/ Body Gym Team. The individuals who raised the most sponsorship: Gillian Dunseath, Janice Porter and John McDonald received vouchers donated by Brona Heron Hair and Beauty (Head2Toe) and Northern Counties Co-op, Swatragh and a large Easter Egg. Trophies, sponsored by J.D. Design Architectural Services, were also presented to the prize winners.

Little Amps staff and committee are very grateful to parents, children and all other volunteers for their enthusiastic support of the event.
