Local art class at Bluestone

ASPIRING artists are learning their trade at a local art class.

The group, ‘Brush Art’, meet every Wednesday from 10am to 12noon at Bluestone Business Park in Craigavon to hone their artistic skills.

‘Brush Art’ was set up by three local women, Jacky Crossey, Dina Harbinson and Sally Lappin, with classes starting last September. There are now 16 members and the group is hoping to start a second class, with different students, on Fridays from 9.30am to 12noon.

A wide range of abilities and ages - the oldest member is 95 - are catered for, and one of the leaders, Jacky Crossey, said: “Some of the members are just starting out but some are already very talented, and we hope to put on an exhibition of some of our work in the future.

“We do class projects and we try to get students to do something they haven’t done before but you only have to do what you feel comfortable with. And most of all we have great fun and a real laugh.”

‘Brush Art’ is a non-profit making organisation, with the 3 cost of classes going towards paying group expenses, and, said Jacky: “There’s as much tea and biscuits as you can eat and drink, and everyone is welcome.”

The group is on facebook at http://facebook/brushartcraigavon for anyone who wants to see some of the students’ work.

Anyone interested in joining the group is invited to contact ‘Brush Art’ by phone on 07946 701371.
