Local business scales heights for charity

It seems that there is no limit to what one local business will do to raise monies for charity and in the case of Premier Taxi Company they went to the highest peak of Northern Ireland in order to support Mary Peter’s Trust and The Resurgam Trust.

A selection of drivers and their family members packed their rucksacks, took to their feet and then set off for the Mourne Mountains.

Depot manager Neil Fyfe explained: “Each year we try and have a charitable cause to donate towards which was started a few years ago by donating new televisions to Drumlough House Nursing Home. We have also supported the various Mayor’s charities and also The Resurgam Trust. This year we decided to go that extra mile which also encouraged physical activity amongst our own staff.”

Premier Taxi Company itself is unique as it is probably the only social economy taxi depot in Northern Ireland, in that it’s a not for profit company. Any profits which are raised are diverted back into the Resurgam Trust, which is a local community development trust and gifted out to local community organisations and other local causes.

A total of £572 was raised from the event which was split 50/50 between the two respective charities. A cheque for £286 was presented to Dame Mary Peters by Depot Manager Neil Fyfe and his Supervisor David Brown and they would like to thank all their valued customers who supported the drivers in this cause.
