It will also provide an overview of the town centre’s performance statistics and identify other potential sources of funding.

The outcomes from the workshop will shape the town centre action plan for the incoming year and will complement other departmental and statutory activity.

In February, a short on-line survey was issued to businesses in Carrickfergus by the Economic Development team at Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

The survey aimed to gain an understanding of the views of local businesses on the future development of the town centre.

The results of the survey will be used to identify priority actions and activities, which will be delivered over the period April 1, 2018 – March 31, 2019.

The objective is to assist, enhance and empower local businesses in influencing activity in Carrickfergus Town Centre.

Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Cllr Paul Reid said: “Amplify, the recently launched Council led economic development strategy for Mid and East Antrim, outlined the importance of local infrastructure to growing the economy of the region.

"There is a need to think more creatively about how we make the best use of our town centres. As such, it is only appropriate that we hear from local businesses about how best to channel any funding in the support and facilitation of a Carrickfergus Town Centre Action Plan.”
