Local camera club get in the picture

Members of Banbridge Camera Club hope to be in the picture when they find out a thing or two about competitive photography.

On Friday the annual AudioVisual festival event at the Ballyearl Arts and Leisure centre near Newtownabbey, takes place at 7.30pm.

The club, now seventh in the Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) inter­club series, will be looking for top results at the event.

International AV judges, Maggie and Malcolm Imhoff, will be showing off their work and on Saturday from 10.30am club members within the Northern Ireland Photographic Association (NIPA) and Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) will put their sequences up for judging. 

Afterwards an all­-Ireland International selection will be shown before a Gala Show including the annual NIPA versus IPF battle.

The cost for the event is £6 and includes tea/coffee.

On Wednesday, February 26 NIPA club photographers will visit the Catchlight Club at Finaghy, for the adjudication of the fourth round of the Camera Jungle supported NIPA Inter­club competition series.

Judging by the results shown at the third round recently at Belfast Photo Imaging Club, the fifth round will be a hot bed of competition with photographers from clubs all around the province hoping to pick up individual awards and points for their club.

Dungannon and Cookstown Camera Club hosted a province wide day recently when photographers interested in judging techniques attended a day long series of workshops on the topic. 

Judges Anne Cassidy and Des Connors provided guidance and advice to the delegates from just about every one of the clubs that comprise NIPA. 

Ballymoney APC will be the venue for the next NIPA Council meeting on Tuesday March 11.
