Local charity'snew campaign

Turning Point NI has launched a campaign to raise awareness of suicide, mental health issues and substance abuse.

They are launching the #believe campaign on April 30 which is the first anniversary of the charity in Ballymena. In the past year they have had over 100 walk-ins, providing vital work to the community at their centre on Mill Street. Everyone is welcome to attend the campaign launch which is being held from 11am-3pm.

A spokesperson said: “We are all aware of the growing mental health problems in our communities stemming from the troubles and other socio-economic issues within our communities. However we want those people in despair to #Believe in voluntary services in the community to Embrace, value and Engage in themselves with the help and support of the services available in their area. We at Turning Point NI want to help break the stigma attached to suicide, self-harm and mental health and give those in despair a voice.”

Turning Point NI are also holding a fundraising Gala Ball on May 27 in the Leighinmohr House Hotel from 7.00pm. Tickets are £30 and include a four course dinner with all proceeds going towards the organisation. There will also be entertainment, auction and a raffle.
