Local CHS Group raiseover £43,000

MEMBERS of the Causeway Fundraising Support Group of the Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke have raised £43,902.16 for the charity and wish to thank everyone for their generous support and donations

Lorna Wilmont, chairperson of the group said: “It’s great to know you are supporting a local Northern Ireland Charity and the Causeway Support Group thank everyone who has generously supported our fundraising events. We’re your local charity for the care and prevention of chest, heart and stroke illnesses. We work with people who have these conditions and their families, offering crucial support at what can be one of the most difficult times of their lives. The money you raise helps provide a listening ear, emotional support and practical advice and information to people and families affected by chest, heart and stroke illnesses. NICHS holds weekly activity groups in the Sandelford Centre in Coleraine based around continuing rehabilitation, secondary prevention.

One tireless supporter is Davy Boyle, Coleraine’s Caring Caretaker who was awarded the Bryan Walliker Fundraising Volunteer of the Year Award 2013 in June. NICHS is one of his chosen charities.

Grace O’Neill, Community and Events Fundraising Manager said, “I would like to thank the group members for all their fundraising efforts. The money raised has been used to support services of the charity in the area, such as cardiac services, stroke and respiratory groups and the Stroke Family Support team.”
