Local couple celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary

IN the same year the Queen celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, a local couple were also celebrating a very special anniversary.

On August 16 George and Betty Kennedy, from Innisfayle Park in Lisburn, celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. And to mark the special occasion, much to their delight, they even received a congratulatory card from Her Majesty.

George, who is originally from Moira, and Betty, who is originally from Lurgan, met and married in Lurgan before setting up home in Moira.

They had three children - Anne, Wesley and Dawn - and are now the proud grandparents of five grandchildren - Ryan, Louise, Roger, Kathryn and David.

The couple have always shared similar interests, regularly attending St John’s Parish in Moira, where they also bowled together for many years.

The couple now live in Lisburn and were delighted to celebrate with family and friends before enjoying yet another celebration of their special day at the Lough Erne Resort in Fermanagh.
