Local eatery has eyes on top title

The awards, which take place at Belfast City Hall on September 18, will see Angelo’s compete against several other leading NI eateries, as it aims to take home the top prize.

As the only Lisburn venue to be shortlisted, Angelo’s topped the public’s vote to win its place as a Finalist.

This fantastic pledge of support for the venue, marks an already momentous year as the restaurant celebrates 30 years in business.

Owned by Richard Graham and with Will Crawford as Head Chef, they have worked hard to make the restaurant the ultimate dining experience in Lisburn.

By embracing the traditional as well as stamping their own culinary creativity on the menus, the loyal customer base has grown from strength to strength.

Speaking about the restaurant’s nomination, owner Richard Graham said: “The shortlist is decided by a public vote and I’m extremely honoured Angelo’s has been chosen as one of the finalists for the award.

“The nomination is a testament to the hard work being done by the entire team and I hope to be able to bring the award back to Lisburn in September.”

Angelo’s opened in 1984. In the early 60’s a young Sicilian Angelo Marano left his home town of Taormina, at the age of 16, and worked at St Moritz and Switzerland, in the heartland of European Excellence in Cuisine.

He fell in love with an Irish girl and he then settled down in Lisburn where he opened his first restaurant in 1984.

Following his success on Piper’s Hill, Angelo opened a second restaurant a few years later on Donegall Pass in Belfast which he called Angelinos.

After 28 years of serving the finest Sicilian Cuisine, Angelo retired in 2012.
