Local farm plants 500 trees for charity
One Million Trees in One Day is a charity, not-for-profit, cross border, community and environmental initiative which will plant a million young native trees across both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland in 24 hours.
Its true aim is to establish individual trees and woodlands in both rural and urban areas that will grow for many years and which will provide valuable resources, beneficial ecosystem services and a lasting legacy for future generations.

Hide AdBroughgammon Farm had a small but equally important role to play, with 1000 assorted whips to plant.
Members of the Ballintoy and Dunseverick Scouts, the Glens Red Squirrel Group, local farmers and families all turned out to aid in the event.
Despite there still being snow on the ground it turned out to be a glorious day.
As the saying goes many hands make light work and by lunch most trees had been planted. With goat burgers all round, those involved had their energy restocked and were able to get the rest planted that afternoon.
