Local firm taking lead in fuel poverty - Dallat

East Derry SDLP Assembly was speaking at the presentation of City and Guilds Awareness Certificates at the Magee Campus of the University of Ulster to six employees of Nicholl Oils.

He continued: “I hope that other oil distributers will see and benefits in investing in their staff to help customers save money on oil.

“This partnership between Nicholl Oils, the University of Ulster and National Energy Action (NEA NI) is the first of its kind and demonstrates what an independent company can do which the larger multi-national companies have failed to do and that is to provide a unique personal service to their customers which is appreciated because it saves them money.

“I was honoured to be asked to present the certificates and I was greatly impressed by the enthusiasm of the recipients who are clearly motivated to make their own personal contribution to the oil industry which supplies 42 per cent of all energy requirements to tens of thousands of homes across the North.

“I wish all the recipients well in their future careers and hope that this initiative undertaken by Mr Hugh Nicholl will be replicated in every corner of Northern Ireland because there is a deepening crisis about the affordability of heating homes.”
