Local groups to benefit from Lidl Community help

Lidl Northern Ireland has revealed that there are two local recipients among the 32 community groups it will support through its ‘Community Works’ campaign.

Crafts With Love, Coleraine and the TS Duke Of York Sea Cadets, Portrush, are among the successful nominations.

The Lidl received over 2000 nominations for community groups and projects from right across the province which were deserving of a visit from the Lidl community crew.

“We have been overwhelmed by the number of nominations we received as part of this campaign and are thrilled to be able to substantially back 32 of them to show our commitment to the community” explains Glen Cinnamon, Regional Director at Lidl Northern Ireland.

“It has opened our eyes to the hundreds of fantastic groups working tirelessly in our communities, sometimes with very little support, and this is our way of giving something back to those who have supported us since we opened our first store in 1999.”

The judging panel included international rugby player Rory Best, community worker and Spirit of NI winner Carol Doey, broadcaster Pamela Ballantine, chef and Lidl ambassador Ian Orr and TV presenter and model Zoe Salmon. Ian Orr said:“It has been a difficult process to select 32 projects to support however the groups we picked are worthy winners. I am looking forward to seeing what the support from Lidl can do for these groups.”
