Local heritage calendar

FOLLOWING the successful launch of Strathfoyle Yesteryears and Maydown Memories projects last year Maydown Community Association senior group, in partnership with Strathfoyle Women’s Activity Group lrd, have launched their Community Calendar Competition for 2011.

The partnership will run the competition during the summer, and hope through it to create awareness about the local cultural and natural heritage that abounds. The end result will be to find 12 ‘winning entries’ to use in a calendar for 2012 and prizes will be awarded to the successful entrants. A panel of judges will be asked to choose the winners.

There are two themes and two categories. The first theme relates to nature and scenes of wildlife, flowers, trees and gardens, riers and lakes, the second is culture relating to people past and present, social occasions, sport, buildings and pridges, ruins and graveyards.

The first category is for young people under the age of 18, the second category is for adults aged 18 and over.

There will be six prixes for each category.
