The reception was attended by around 150 members of the Legion and MLAs.

Speaking after the reception, local Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson, said: “It’s important to recognise the important work the Legion does in providing care and support to those who need it the most, especially serving members of the Armed Forces, veterans of all ages and their families.

“The Legion also plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the memory of those who have given their lives for our freedom through Remembrance, education and hosting events.

“It was great to see members of both Portadown and Donaghcloney branches attending Stormont to join in the evening and meet up and chat with colleagues from branches across Northern Ireland.

“I want to pay particular tribute to Noell Crawford, the Chairman of the Women’s Section in Portadown and also Chairman of the Northern Ireland Women’s Section, for all that she does to advance the aims of ethos of the Legion.”
