Local lodges are set to mark the Somme

Orange men and women from Lisburn and Hillsborough Districts, together with local bands, will join members from 227 Orange Lodges from 25 Districts within County Antrim for the parade and drumhead service.

The parade will assembly at Fountain Hill in the town at 1.15pm and will move off at 2pm sharp. The colour party and Sir George White Memorial Flute Band will lead the parade, followed by County Officers/Visiting Officers, the Junior Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland, Ladies Orange Association, Ulster Defenders of the Realm LOL 710/Pride of the Raven Flute Band, Theipval Memorial LOL 1916/Whiterock Flute Band, East Antrim Combine, South Antrim Combine, which will include Lisburn and Hillsborough District, North Antrim Combine, Triangle – Ahoghill, Cullybackey and Portglenone Districts. Ballymena District and Braid District.

The parade will make its way to Antrim Stadium and will pause to allow the County Grand Master & County Grand Mistress to lay a wreath at the war memorial.

A service will be held at 3pm, where a Drumhead Alter will be formed in front of the Grandstand. At the conclusion of the service a short dedication of a Lambeg Drum will be performed in memory of the Late Worshipful Brother John McGrath PM Boyd Memorial LOL 312.

The parade will make its way back through the town and will disperse at 5pm.
