Local NI Water facilities do their bit to cut carbon

STEPS have been taken at two NI Water facilities in Newtownabbey to help the company improve its ‘green’ credentials.

The utility company is currently undertaking a series of measures to reduce its carbon footprint in a bid to take action on climate change.

The Whitehouse waste water treatment works and the Whiteabbey pumping station were among the facilities which reduced carbon emissions by 8.3 per cent, helping the company attain the Carbon Trust Standard.

Charlie Pollock from NI Water said: “We’re delighted to have achieved the Carbon Trust Standard. It is a great way of showing that we are on the front foot when it comes to carbon management best practice, and gives us an opportunity to communicate our environmental credentials.”
