Local plans for Relief of Derry parade

Ballymoney Mitchelburne Apprentice Boys will be attending the annual Relief of Derry celebrations in Londonderry this Saturday, 9th August.

The August Monthly meeting of the Mithelburne Club Ballymoney Branch will be held on Friday 8th August at 8pm in Ballymoney Orange Hall where arrangements for the Relief of Derry will be finalised.

The Branch Club will meet up at Ballymoney Orange Hall on Saturday 9th August at 9am. The Branch Club will be lead by Drumaheagles Young Defenders FB, Brethren and the band will gather at Ballymoney War Memorial at 9:40 am for an Act of Remembrance where a wreath will be laid in memory of those who gave their lives in the two World Wars and conflicts since.

Afterwards the local parade of the town will commence taking in High Street, Church Street, Victoria Street and Charles Street. The Branch Club, band members and members of the public will board a double decker bus at the bus stop on the top of Charles Street for the journey to Londonderry - fare for members of the public is £10.

On arrival in Londonderry, the local Branch Club and Drumaheagles Flute Band will parade down to Duke Street to await the main parade commencing at 12:3opm. Afterwards the Band and Club will parade to Brigade Cricket Club. The bus will return to Balymoney from Brigade Cricket Club at 4:30 pm (sharp).

The Club and Band will then parade from Queens Avenue, taking in the two Care Homes, Portrush Road, Coleraine Road, Charles Street, Linenhall Street, High Street to the War Memorial for the National Anthem to end the day’s proceedings.
