Local rector to retire with her ‘fave’ hymns

THE Rector of St. Patrick’s Parish Church, Armoy and All Saints, Loughgiel, is to retire.

The Rev. Frances Bach had been in charge of the two parishes along with Drumtullagh for almost 13 years but ill health has forced her to call it a day.

According to the Dalriada parish booklet, Rev. Bach has been unable to carry out her full duties for around a year and has admitted that the parishes need a Rector who is “fit and healthy.” She decided it would be best if she were to retire.

It is thought that Christmas will be the time Rev. Bach finally leaves, but she says she plans to hold “big, jolly services, full of our favourite hymns, to mark the end of my ministry here.”

She added: “It has been a delight to live at the Rectory for the past 13 years, a joy to worship here and share your happy times, and an honour to be with you in your sad times.

“Ministry is a two-way process and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, prayers and many kindnesses to John and me over the years.”

The Rev. Bach says she will not be moving far from Armoy and hopes that the parishioners will pop in and see her in her new home.

The Rev. Derek Steele is currently in charge of Drumtullagh Church.
