Local retirement group receive Alzheimer's talk

BALLYMENA Retirement Group received a very important talk at their recent meeting about the support that's available for coping with dementia and Alzheimer's.

At the opening meeting of the Autumn Session of the Ballymena Retirement Group on September 1, special speaker for the afternoon was Wilma McIlroy from the Alzheimer's Society.

She gave a very informative talk about Dementia and the local services available.

Wilma also had a visual presentation of all the support services such as, Dementia Support Services, Carer Support Services, Carer Information Evenings and support grants and raising awareness.

All are looking forward to the Autumn outing later this month- a coach tour of the Antrim Coast and finishing the day with high tea in Coleraine.

There was a good attendance and four new members were warmly welcomed. The meeting closed with a cup of tea and cakes which were enjoyed by members.

The next meeting will be held in Glenravel fold on October 6 at 2.15pm. New members will be most welcome.
