Local scouts take part in Young Leaders’ Programme

THE second part of Lisburn and District’s Young Leaders’ Programme took place recently at Hillsborough Scout Hall with 13 Young Leaders from 1st Ballymacash, Lisburn Cathedral and 4th Lisburn (Friends School) Scout Groups taking part.

This programme is one of the most exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. All Explorer Scouts who are leaders in the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout and Scout Sections aged between 14 and 18 become members of the District’s Explorer Scout Young Leaders’ Unit and undertake a programme of training which results in a recognised qualification. It allows each Young Leader to make a valuable contribution to their Scout Group, community, give service to others and fulfil a lot of their badge programme requirements.

Lisburn and District have been at the forefront within Northern Ireland Scouting in promoting and running this Programme, recognising its importance in developing young people for roles within the Movement locally.
