Local solicitor signs up to offer will service in aid of charity

Around 32 solicitors from all over Northern Ireland will offer a free will-making service this month in support of Northern Ireland’s Hospice. During March, Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is raising awareness about the mimportance of making a Will and through supporting legal firms, will be offering people an opportunity to avail of a free will service.

Sharon Gorman, Legacy Officer for Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, said: “Amazingly, two-thirds of people in Northern Ireland do not have a Will. What we are aiming to do is highlight to people the importance of making a Will and also keeping it up to date.

“Having a Will not only gives a person peace of mind that their wishes will be carried out, itcan also save family and loved ones a lot of heartache and stress at what is a difficult time.

“Many people also consider charity when making a Will and Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice has benefitted from people’s gifts in Wills and generosity. Indeed, 10,000 hours of children’s hospice care was funded last year thanks to gifts in Wills.”

Anyone making a Will with participating solicitors will be invited to make a donation to Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice in lieu of the will-making service offered.

Northern Ireland Hospice cares for 3,500 babies, children and adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families each year. The charity is now caring for over 90% of patients in their own homes. Whilst Hospice care is freeto the patient, it is not free to provide and the charity relies heavily on support and donations from the public.
