Once finished, the final pieces were judged by members of the Remus Uomo design team, Cathy Martin, Belfast FASHIONWEEK Director and course lecturers from Ulster University’s Fashion & Textiles Degree programme.

Stephen King, Lecturer in Fashion at Ulster University added, “At Ulster University we are nurturing the future leaders of the global fashion industry. Throughout this process, Emma proved herself to have exceptional attention to detail, expert craftsmanship and exhibited true professionalism and creativity that made her our natural winner. “I would like to congratulate Emma on her win, and we look forward to seeing more from this exciting new designer in her final collection later in the year.”

Emma Morrow commented, “Myself and the other finalists were really excited to get a real insight and gain the experience of designing for a successful menswear brand such as Remus Uomo. The experience and the prize will certainly give me a foot-up in my design career.”

Cathy Martin praised the talent of local students, “It’s clear from this competition that Northern Ireland’s rich heritage in fashion and textiles is carrying on to the next generation of designers.

“We’re always delighted to showcase emerging talent at Belfast FASHIONWEEK and we’re excited to see what’s next from these fabulous young designers.”
