Local volunteers honoured by CHS

Around this year’s Volunteers’ Week, Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke recognised their hard-working volunteers by holding celebratory events around the whole of Northern Ireland.

The NICHS Stroke Scheme in Coleraine had a special coffee morning where all the volunteers received thank-you certificates.

The event took place at “The Crannagh” beside the River Bann.

The sun was out and so the spirits were high!

Anne Norrie, Volunteer co-ordinator at NICHS paid tribute to the many local volunteers involved with the charity.

“Our volunteers donate their life experiences, skills, abilities, compassion, intellect, humour and ask for nothing in return. They volunteer for many different reasons but to those they help they give hope, strength and sometimes the courage to face another day.”

Wendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now added: “ I am delighted that so many organisations are taking part in this year’s Volunteers’ Week celebrations.

“Likewise, the stories of volunteers, what they do and why they got involved, provides inspiration for others thinking about volunteering to get involved.”
