Local volunteers honoured by RNLI

The event which was staged at the Titanic Museum in Belfast last Wednesday recognised the commitment and dedication of Bernadette Reilly, Mac Pollock and Anne McCusker all of whom volunteer with the RNLI’s Ballymoney Fundraising Branch.

During the ceremony, Anne McCusker who was awarded a silver badge by the charity was described as a loyal committee member. “Recently Ann has taken on the role of branch secretary finding her true vocation,” Darren Byers, Divisional Operations Manager said.

“Due to her great organisational skills the role still leaves Anne enough time to design the quiz sheets for the annual quiz which continues to bring substantial revenue to the branch.”

Guests heard how committee members do not come more enthusiastic than Mac Pollock who was recognised at the event with a bronze badge.

“A dependable and effervescent fundraiser,’ Emma Gibson, RNLI Area Fundraising Manager said, “he collects every year for the branch flag day which raises over £1,000 and assists with the annual church service.”

Bernadette Reilly who received a certificate of thanks from the RNLI was described as a loyal committee member who encourages supporters to attend the many varied events run by the Ballymoney branch.

The awards were presented by RNLI Chairman Charles Hunter-Pease who said the RNLI had made an extraordinary difference to people’s lives in 2014.
