Local volunteers urgently needed for Victim Support

The charity, which helps victims of crime in communities and courts here, said more volunteers are required to deliver their crucial support services at their outreach centres.

The charity will be holding an information session Wednesday, April 27 at St Vincent de Paul in Lurgan for anyone interested.

Victim Support NI Volunteer Manager, Colm Keenan, said: “Volunteers are the bedrock of Victim Support NI selflessly giving up their time and using their expertise to help victims cope with the impact of crime.

“This can include providing emotional support and practical help to people in the aftermath of crime, form-filling or supporting victims and witnesses ahead of, and during, court to give them the confidence to make their voices heard.

“We offer excellent accredited training and development opportunities for volunteers equipping them with knowledge and skills to deliver a first class support service to victims. As well as being great experience, it’s also a fantastic way to work as part of a caring and compassionate team while helping people in your local community.

“We will be holding an information session for people interested in volunteering on Wednesday, April 27 from 10am – 11am at St Vincent de Paul, Ozanam Centre, 14-16 William Street, Lurgan.
