Local Weightwatchers get walking for charity

MEMBERS of the Lisburn Weightwatchers group, together with members from Lurgan and Banbridge, have raised over £4,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

To celebrate Weightwatchers 25th anniversary in Northern Ireland, Weightwatchers members took to the roads and took part in a sponsored walk.

To fit in with the 25th anniversary they were to walk 25 miles each between February 25 and March 25.

Bernie Walsh, the local Weightwatcher leader was delighted with how many members took part. She said: “Part of our programme includes activity and it was a great way to get some members off their chairs. And the added bonus was being able to raise so much money for such a worthwhile charity. We raised £4055, which is the equivalent to over 200 hours of home nursing care.”
