Standing in the dock of Antrim Crown Court, 22-year-old Danielle Millar entered guilty pleas to two counts of sexual activity involving penetration with a child under 16 on a date unknown between January 1 and July 1 2012.

A further charge of sexually assaulting the same 14-year-old girl was not put on Tuesday and prosecuting QC Neil Connor told the court while he had to “make some enquiries” about the Crown’s position regarding the last count, he was “confident” a trial would not be necessary.

Adjourning the case to this Friday, Judge Des Marrinan commented it seemed to him “that it would be best for everyone’s interests if the case could be encapsulated” in Millar’s guilty pleas.

Releasing Millar, from Mount Street in Ballymena, on bail until Friday, the judge said while it would be “premature” to order presentence probation reports at this stage, given her admissions she was now “obliged” to sign the police sex offenders register.
