“Following their visit I have raised a number of important issues which we discussed at the Agriculture Committee and also directly with the Minister - these includes the number of places available for young people wanting to study farming locally.

“We also discussed the worry that all too often government strategies, including the important ‘Going for Growth’ strategy, do not seek the valuable views and input of young farmers - I got the opportunity to put this point directly to the chairman at Stormont this week and received an assurance of greater consideration of the views of young people in the future.

“I am delighted to see a Young Farmers Club which is thriving and wish everyone at the club well as they continue to celebrate their important anniversary.”
