The young people spent the day with the Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Thomas Hogg, and other members of the Council.

Councillor Hogg believes that the event was beneficial.

“This interactive event has been a fantastic way for students to engage with our council members and get a flavour for the work we do. It has also been a great opportunity for councillors to find out about the pressing issues that concern the young people living in our borough. Let’s hope that today may have helped encourage some of them to become involved in our local government,” he said.

The guest speaker for the event was Michal Novota, who was formerly the youngest councillor in Bratislava City Council in Slovakia.
