Locals urged to attend rural roadshow

A SERIES of 'rural roadshows' has been planned across Northern Ireland's towns and communities, with one scheduled to take place in the Upper Bann area

MP for the constituency, David Simpson, welcomed the initiative announced by MEP Diane Dodds who is hosting the roadshows which are open to members of the public.

“I very much welcome this further confirmation of the DUP’s commitment to delivering advice and information for our rural towns and communities,” said Mr Simpson. “Diane will be joined at these events by DETI Minister Arlene Foster, Environment Minister Edwin Poots and the chair of the NI Assembly Agricultural Committee, Stephen Moutray. DUP representatives will also be in attendance.

“Whether it is at the Assembly, Westminster or the EU, the DUP team is at the forefront of representation, service and delivery on behalf of our farming and rural communities.”

Mr Simpson said the roadshows would afford constituents the opportunity to tie in with Europe, the environment, planning and economic development and investment directly with the relevant Executive Minister and the MEP.

“The Environment Minister, Edwin Poots, has been central to a number of decisions affecting farmers,” added Mr Simpson. “With PPS21 now in force, there are many questions amongst our rural dwellers as to how the new policy operates in practice. The Minister will explain the policy, but also listen to the views of those it is affecting.

“We will also explore the opportunities for growing our agri-food industry with DETI Minister Arlene Foster.”

The Upper Bann meeting will be held at the Seagoe Hotel, Portadown, on 3rd November, starting at 7.45pm and local people are encouraged to attend.
