Lodges travel to Crumlin for Twelfth celebrations

MORE than 70 Lodges will be on parade in Crumlin for the South Antrim Combine demonstration next Thursday.

Seven districts will take part, headed by Glenavy, Magheragall, Ballinderry, Derriaghy, Lisburn, Hillsborough and Aghalee.

The nine Lodges of Glenavy District will proudly host the parade which will begin at the junction of Lurgan Road and Cherryvalley Road, moving off at 11.30am and travelling along Main Street and Ballytromery Road to the field on Ballytromery Road.

Platform proceedings will start at 2pm. The guest speaker will be the Grand Master of Australia.

Those attending the demonstration, but not parading,are being encouraged to go to the demonstration field at the junction of Ballytromery Road/Poplar Road using the access via the A26 onto Poplar Road.

Car parking facilities will be available at a large car park opposite the demonstration field at a cost of £5 per vehicle.

The return parade will commence at 4.30pm going to Main Street.

Before travelling to Crumlin, Lisburn District will be walking through the city centre, starting at the Orange Hall in Railway Street at 9am.

Members of Lisburn District LOL No.6 are to meet at the Orange Hall from 8am and the parade will make its way through the city centre via Market Square, Market Street, Linenhall Street, Union Bridge, Gregg Street, Mercer Street, Sloan Street and Union Bridge to Laganbank Road, where the Lodges will board the buses for Crumlin.

A return parade will commence at approximately 5.30pm, beginning at St Paul’s Church. It will make its way back to Lisburn Orange Hall via Ballinderry Road, Longstone Street, Chapel Hill, Bow Street, Antrim Street, Bachelors Walk and Railway Street.

There is limited space on the buses for members of the public to travel to Crumlin. Tickets for the bus are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for children under 16. There will also be a number of smaller parades in other parts of the area on Thursday.

In Lisburn, the LOL No 1981 Lisburn Ulster Defence Volunteers will hold a parade beginning at 8.30am from Ivan Street and at 6pm in the evening beginning in Railway Street.

In Hillsborough, LOL No 422 Ballygowan will hold a parade beginning at 9.30am in the morning, with a return parade at 5.30pm, whilst LOL No 144 and LOL No 823 Lord Arthur Hill Memorial Hillsborough will hold a parade beginning at 9.30am from the Orange Hall, Ballynahinch Road, Hillsborough, with a return parade at 5.30pm.

In Dunmurry, LOL No 513 No Surrender will hold an evening parade from 8.55pm, whilst Dunmurry True Blues LOL 1046 will parade from 9.15am with a return parade from 6.15pm.

Meanwhile, Suffolk Melody Flute Band will hold a small parade in Dunmurry at 8.50am from Church Avenue to Dunmurry Orange Hall.
