Loftus highlights need for footpath on Cullycapple Road

SDLP Coleraine Councillor Roisin Loftus has joined calls to have a footpath installed near a local church in Aghadowey which she believes would make it safer for residents and parishioners.

Cllr Loftus said that while the Cullycapple Road is a rural road, it is busy with walkers and pedestrians walking from church to the local community hall.

“From my understanding there used to be a footpath along that stretch of road so it shows there is a need for it.

People use this road to walk from the church to the hall, and a lot of walkers would enjoy a stroll in the evenings. Although it is a rural road, it still attracts plenty of traffic and a footpath would make it a lot safer for people to use.

“I have contacted DRD Road Service to highlight the need for a footpath here and I hope to hear of progress on the matter shortly.”
