Logan’s mother promises to fight to keep Causeway A&E

Seven-year-old Logan had been playing with friends near a local holiday park when he fell from the cliffs on June 15.

He was taken to the Causeway Hospital by helicopter but later died from his injuries.

Last week, on a Facebook page petition to Save A&E in Causeway, Logan’s mum, Charlieen Crawford praised all the medical team at the Causeway and promised to ‘fight to save it’ adding it was ‘essential to this area’.

She wrote: “On Sunday evening I lost my boy.

He was only seven-years-old. He was airlifted to Causeway Hospital where he later passed due to his injuries.

The doctors and nurses that tried to save my boy went above and beyond for him.

“I can’t thank them enough for what they did. But if his injuries weren’t so bad and the A&E department had have been closed the helicopter ride to Belfast or Derry could have cost his life.

“This hospital is essential to this area and I will fight along side you all to save it!”

Speaking about the tragedy, Mrs Crawford said her husband Robin went to try and help Logan after the other children ran back home for help. Following a desperate hour-long search, Logan was found in the water at the bottom of the cliffs.

“He was a cheeky wee monkey at times but he was just the life and soul of everything,” she said when asked to describe Logan. “He could cheer you up with a simple wee smile. He was a light in our lives.”
