London choreographer to film tea-dancers waltzing around city

A SPECIAL film about Londonderry by choreographer Rosemary Lee and Dance Theatre Company Echo Echo will document the life and times of different people in the city.

The producers are looking specifically for Tea-Dancers to be filmed performing a dance routine down the city’s historic streets.

“Filming for the exciting City of Culture film project titled ‘Without’ is to take place over two weekends in April, with Lee attempting to film 360 degree panoramic views of Derry from a high point ‘within’ the city walls,” said Mayor Kevin Campbell.

“Focusing from seven different vantage points, the film will capture local people moving in different ways ‘without’ the unique and natural man-made features of the city and it is the help of real, local people who attend our tea dances on a regular basis that they are looking for to take part in the dance scene for the film.”

Rosemary Lee, a London based choreographer, performer and film director has been working in the field for over twenty years.

Rosemary will hold a public information day about the film this Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 3pm at the Echo Echo premises, 13 Bishop St (next to Henderson’s Music) and is looking for interested parties to attend to find out more information.

The filming for this scene will take part on Saturday the 6th and 13th of April 2013 and participants will be needed for a period of time over the two days.

In addition to Tea-Dancers people can take part in other ways ranging from being filmed moving through the city spaces to helping to co-ordinate within the filming period of 7th-19th April 2013.
