Londonderry bus station is 100% tidy

LONDONDERRY’S bus station received a 100 per cent tidy rating in a Northern Ireland-wide awards scheme.

Foyle Street Bus Station got top marks in the TIDY Northern Ireland assessment designed to ensure that local bus and train facilities are clean, tidy and environmentally-friendly.

Both Foyle Street Bus Station and Coleraine Bus & Rail Centre both achieved 100 per cent in the awards assessment. A further seven Translink stations scooped Gold in this year’s awards results while 10 stations received Silver.

Speaking about the results, Translink Group Environmental Manager, Andy Bate, said: “We are thrilled with this year’s performance that saw more stations than ever before enter the top Platinum and Gold award ratings demonstrating our employees’ outstanding commitment to providing an attractive bus and rail network for both passengers and colleagues to enjoy.

“These awards play an important role in our company-wide Go Eco strategy in which we strive for continuous environmental performance improvement.

“Attractive stations play a key role in encouraging more people to travel by bus and train and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership with TIDY Northern Ireland to ensure our facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards.

“We have seen many stations take extra steps to boost their environmental performance over the past year and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in delivering such a fantastic set of results,” said Andy.

TIDY Northern Ireland’s local environmental quality officer Chris Allen said: “It is wonderful to see more stations achieving the top Platinum and Gold awards for being so clean, tidy and environmentally friendly.

“These results are clearly an indication of Translink’s commitment to continuous environmental improvement and TIDY Northern Ireland is looking forward to seeing even better results in the future and this level of excellence developing into Eco-Stations.”
