Londonderry man questioned over 1994 death of Rangers fan

A Londonderry man has been taken to Glasgow by police investigating the death of 24-year-old Rangers fan Derek Sheerin whose half-naked body was found in the East End of Glasgow in 1994.

Officers from Police Scotland assisted by detectives from PSNI Serious Crime Branch detained the 39 year old man in Londonderry this morning as part of an investigation into the death of Mr Sheerin in Glasgow 21 years ago.

Mr Sheerin was found dead in the East End of Glasgow in September 1994.

The suspect has been taken to Glasgow for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Harvey from Serious Crime Branch has appealed to people in Londonderry who have any information about the murder to contact detectives at Maydown using the non-emergency number 101, or by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
