Londonderry tops unemployment list again
Broken down by district council area Northern Ireland's highest rates were Londonderry with a 7.6 per cent rate of unemployment, with Limavady second at 7.1 per cent. Belfast polled third with a 6.8 per cent of unemployment.
Across Northern Ireland Year-on-year, the number of people currently receiving unemployment increased by 5,600, a rise of 10.7 per cent. Another 900 people joined the local dole queues in August bringing the jobless total to 57,800. In proportion this was the largest monthly increase in all of the 12 UK regions.
