Looking “Through the Lens” success

THIS week sees the concluding photographic exhibition of a project called “Through the Lens: Neighbours” which has been delivered by the Workers’ Educational Association, in partnership with Focus on Family, Ballysally, Coleraine.

The digital photography project explored good relations themes as the inspiration for the images and took place over the last few weeks.

Participants included residents from Ballysally and the wider community from Coleraine, some of whom had very little prior experience of photography.

Once they were set the challenge of taking photographs to demonstrate their understanding of diversity, equality and respect in their neighbourhoods, they produced a set of very strong images, showing these themes from unusual perspectives.

The students admitted that as a result of the project they now see things from new perspectives.

The exhibition can be seen in Focus on Family until Thursday and the digital images can also be viewed on the WEA website: www.wea-ni.com The project was made possible from financial support from OFMDFM and Coleraine Borough Council Good Relations Department.
