Loreto students enjoyYoung Enterprise workshop

YEAR 9 students at Loreto College Coleraine, Specialist School, took part in a half-day workshop facilitated by the Causeway Enterprise Agency on Friday.

Organised by Head of Employability and Citizenship Mrs Sinead McNicholl and Head of Careers Miss Maria Flannelly, the workshop was tailored to fit in with the Year 9 Employability programme followed by the students.

Ben Best of Tree of Knowledge NI, using his new, innovative enterprise training resource – the APODO, spent the half-day session working through a number of group activities and plenary sessions with the Year 9 students.

Mrs Sinead McNicholl, who co-ordinated the workshop, paid tribute to the Causeway Enterprise Agency staff for their inspiring work with the students, and congratulated pupils on their participation in a very useful learning activity.

She said: “It really was rewarding to watch and observe the pupils’ reaction to the APODO as a learning resource, and it was clearly evident that the pupils were more empowered to approach skills such as problem solving, team-work and decision making with increased confidence and enthusiasm.”
