Lorry driver ordered to take ‘object’ to police station

At around 12.30pm police received a report that the lorry had been hijacked in the Galliagh area.

Two masked men approached the driver as he was making a delivery to Ederowen Park.

An object was loaded into the back of the lorry and the driver was ordered to take it to Strand Road police station.

The lorry stopped at Buncrana Road and police are at the scene.

Staff have been advised to leave St Columb’s College and people have also been moved from business units in the Springtown Industrial Estate.
